Kaza to get skiing stadium; Gill inaugurates astro-turf at Shilaru

Shimla: Situated at 8,000 ft from sea level, Asia’s highest high altitude sports training centre at Shilaru, about 55 km from here, got another feather in its cap as Union Sport Minister MS Gill today dedicated the Rs 3.53-crore astro-turf and indoor multipurpose sport hall, besides hostels and medical center to sportspersons in the country. He also announced to build a skiing stadium at Kaza in Spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh.

While addressing the gathering at this occasion, Gill pointed out that Indian hockey suffered extensively due to lack of modern sports infrastructure like astro-truf carpeted stadiums, which have otherwise been common around the world since 1975-76.
