Shimla: Work on the Rohtang tunnel project is likely to start soon as a new chief engineer has been deputed at Manali to supervise the work. The tunnel is being planned aiming at providing all-weather road connectivity to Ladakh region in J&K, besides Himachal Pradesh’s tribal Lahaul and Spiti district.
While interacting during the 48th Raising Day of Project Deepak, chief engineer IR Mathur said that work on Rohtang tunnel, which was earlier with Project Deepak, would now be looked after by a new project enshrined as ‘Rohtang Tunnel Project’, for which a separate chief engineer has been deputed by Border Roads Organisation (BRO), to be posted at Manali.Read Full Story
