Record garlic trade in Solan market

Solan: Solan fFruit and vegetable market, known for its garlic market, has reported a record Rs 2.87 crore trade this season as the crop is still pouring here from different parts of Solan, Shimla, Mandi and Sirmaur districts. Farmer are getting good price due to lean crop in other regions owing to long dry spell this season.

General secretary of Solan Marketing Committee, Purshotam Verma, said that this year the market has registered arrival of 865 tonnes of garlic. He said that compared to last year, farmers are getting double the price. He added that most of the crop is coming from Rajgarh area of Sirmaur district. He said that after opening of the market complex at Solan, traders from Chandigarh are thronging here.Read Full Story
