Heavy snowfall on high reaches traps many shepherds and livestock

Shimla: Many shepherds along with their livestock are believed to be stuck in high reaches of the state due to heavy snowfall in the last three days. Shepherds move up the mountains in the summers with their flocks for grazing every year, but this time they have faced very inhospitable weather due to sudden snowfall.

Expressing concern over the well being of large number of shepherds and their livestock, Lahaul district information Officer Sheir Singh said that there is no news about the whereabouts of some shepherds who had ventured into the high mountains. In the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges too shepherds are believed to be stuck but the district administrations as such have not received any distress calls.
