77 more diarrhea cases in Shimla

Shimla: About 77 fresh cases of diarrhea were reported from different parts of Shimla town today. Out of these, 17 cases were admitted to IGMC while the rest were treated as outpatient cases (38 Civil Dispensary Sanjauli, 16 DDU Shimla and six cases were treated during House visits), raising the number of infected persons to 117 in the town.

According to a spokesperson of the health department, health teams visited around 250 houses today, and distributed 1,100 tablets of chlorine and 100 ORS packets in the affected areas. The team also visited two schools in Chamiyana ward to educate the children with regard to prevention of water-borne diseases. He said that IEC activities in the form of mikeing & distribution of pamphlets were going on in the affected areas. He added that today four water samples were collected from different sites.
