Shimla: Himachal Pradesh cabinet today granted approval for setting up of 600 MW Pithead Power Plant by Himachal EMTA Power Limited (HEPL) a joint venture of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) and Eastern Minerals & Trading Agency (EMTA) in West Bengal by investing about Rs 4,000 crore in the project. The government also decided to amend the Hydro Power Policy, 2006 to make it more flexible and facilitating to small hydropower producers.
The cabinet also decided to procure mango crop from the farmers under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS). The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal here today decided implementing MIS for mango producers with a view to ensure minimum price in the terminal markets for their produce. The cabinet decided to procure ‘seedling’ and ‘grafted’ varieties of mango fruits at the rate of Rs. 4.58 and at the rate of Rs. 5.25 per kg respectively during the period from July 1 to August, 15, 2010.Read Full Story
