SFI-ABVP Spare Himachal Univ, Clash On Roads

Shimla: Uneasy calm prevailed at HPU campus through the day even though 54 of the 57 who were detained on Thursday were bailed out but the violence spread outside as SFI and AVBP supporters from a local college clashed on a road resulting in 5 getting injured.

Having succeeded in bringing some order at the HPU campus, RM Sharma, SP Shimla said that 2 SFI and 3 AVBP students from Government Kotshera College were injured today in a clash that took place at Ambedhakar Chowk.

“On complaints lodged by both groups cases under section 323 and 147 of IPC had been lodged and the matter was being investigated,” he said. So far, no one has been arrested in the case, he added.

Among the injured are Chander Kant and Nand Lal from SFI and Vikas Thakur, Ajay Mehta and Prashant of AVBP. Chander Kant is said to have suffered a broken tooth in the fight.

Shaken by the assault on a professor at HPU by agitating students on Thursday, some members of the teaching faculty today staged a demonstration outside the vice-chancellors office demanding security and protection from such unruly behavior.Read Full Story
