Due to Cement factories in Himachal here is an alarming increase in the no of New Patent reported with TB (Tuberculosis). Near by areas of cement factory tuberculosis multi-drug Rsistent (MDR) is spreading rapidly.
It is believed that due to the cement production is the main cause of TB in the close surrounding areas of factory. In view of increasing no of TB cases Govt have started taking survey in the respective areas of Arki, Kunihar, Dadhlagat, Chandi and Sayri. The three units are formed. In these areas and so far 24 people have been confirmed infected with MDR. Treatment of these people have been started.
In Hiamchal There are mainly following Cement Factories Operating:-
- ACC, Barmana Bilaspur
- Jay Pee Cement Factory, Solan
- Ambuja Cement Ltd., Darlaghat
What is the MDR???Impaired cases of TB is reffered as MDR. It is life threatening disease. The symptoms are the same as TB disease. Drugs do not work in these cases. In TB drug would have to have six to eight months, while 24 to 27 months of MDR drugs have to eat.
Symptoms of TB
Persistent cough, mild fever in the evening every day, sudden body weight loss, bleeding with mucus in the body to many tumors.

In most cases, TB is treatable and curable; however, persons with TB can die if they do not get proper treatment.
