60 deodar sleepers recovered from a forest cave

Mandi: With the fresh recovery of 60 deodar sleepers by a team of forest department concealed in a deep cave in the wildlife sanctuary of Shikari Devi in Karsog valley on Wednesday, forest officials are once again on their toes to net the culprits.

The timber has been seized and case registered. Divisional forest officer BS Rana confirming the seizure of timber added that the persons involved in illicit felling would be dealt with an iron hand. The forest officials are now convinced that the illicit felling in the closed sanctuary has assumed alarming proportions. More teams have been deputed to search and scan the entire sanctuary to unearth more timber from obscure hideouts.Read Full Story
